Well, as predicted a couple of posts ago, the left, both politicians and bloggers, declared that General Petraeus was a liar and(and, in case of Moveon.org, a traitor)dismissed everything he had to say. Most of them dismissed it before he said it. Well, not really they sure jumped on the negative things. So I guess he is only lying when he says stuff they disagree with.
And to think they accuse the right of being close minded and deliberately ignorant.

My God. I could go on for days about the hypocrisy of the Left.
As for General Petraeus, I have no idea what he said so I can't comment.
Opit, interesting although the second link is cut off so I couldn't follow it. Needless to say I disagree with many of the conclusions by the guy at the patriots.
ZS - lets' not leave the right out of this though. Many of them are just as bad going the other direction.
exMI - It isn't Petraeus that really burns me. Knowing the White House scripted the report he was supposed to submit so as to evade accountability is so chickenshit that anyone associated with the act is going to catch part of the spew.
I'm sure everyone's comments had all been drafted, reviewed three times, and tested on focus groups before Petraeus even delivered his reports. It wouldn't have made any difference what he said.
SO Opit, you are saying he flat out lied when he said I wrote this and it is my thoughts only?
And yes anon, and yes anon. of course the statement had been thoroughly rehearsed and gone over as is any testimony before the Senate. (Except maybe Alberto Gonzalez's.)
Oh, I didn't mean Petraeus' report was rehearsed, though no doubt it was. I meant that all the criticisms and complaints had been written beforehand, without even seeing the report. Maybe a few contingency options thrown it. But the "talking points" and plan attack were in place regardless of content.
It's all kabuki theater. Nobody really cares about what's actually going on in Iraq, so Petraeus' report was more or less irrelevant. Everyone has their manufactured truths that they'll cling to. Mere facts can't deflect ideology.
Now that is a very true statement.
