Someone should care, maybe not you....

My thoughts on many things including the army, war, politics, the military corrections system, chaos, life, books, movies, and why there is no blue food. Feel free to comment on what I say. Feedback is nice.

My Photo

40+ year old former teacher, linguist, interrogator, soldier, and lastly convict. We all do stupid things every once and awhile. I am an economic conservative and a firm believer in civil rights. Starting a new life now and frankly not sure what I am going to be doing.

Ok, my four best

No. 1 -- Rainy Sunday On the death and burial of a dog.

No. 2 -- Detainee 603 In which I discuss and comment on the interrogation of Detainee 603 as reported by Time Magazine.

No. 3 -- The Law of Land Warfare In which I look at what is and is not covered by the Geneva conventions.

No. 4 -- PKZ In which I discuss the difficulty in determining who is our friend and why in Afghanistan.

Incidentally, there are a lot of other posts that I liked a lot too. Feel free to peruse the old pages if you haven't been reading for a long time.

Four worst posts....... Hard to say. I'm gonna just go with the filler posts where I don't do anything but say here is a post.

Honorable emntion for best posts go to all of my cooking posts. Type Food in the the "Search this blog" box in the upper left and you will find them all.

Back again

Ok, after a fairly long vacation I am back. A week spent in Miami for the Fencing National championships, (no, I didn't win but I did reasonably well) then a week of just doing not much at all. But here I am to start the task that Blue Girl left me. I was tagged to choose what I consider to be my four best and four worst posts. I am not doing that today because I have to go back and actually read all of my old posts. I have a few ideas on best ones, for the worst I am not at all certain. Please feel free to leave nominations for either category.

On to one of my favorite topics, stupid people, I went tot he movies today. Transformers, certainly not high art but entertaining. A really kind of weird mix between kids movie and action flick. Fun movie. I was in the Mugs and Movies section where you can order snacks and such to eat while watching the movie. There eas a family in front of me and the parents had two pitchers of beer. After the movie I saw them all go out and Dad hops in the car to drive home. Now unless wifey is lush and drank it all herself he had at least two mugs of brew, probably more like three. Nothing like proving you love your kids by impairing yourself before driving home.

Another example of stupid people can be found in the Brown family of Plainfield New Hampshire. These wonderful folks owe in the area of one Million dollars in back taxes which they refuse to pay They say there is no law requiring them to pay income taxes. I know there is a rather large movement out there that claims the income tax is unconstitutional and such. Click HERE for some of their reasoning. At any rate, these people were sentenced en absentia to about 5 years in prison for tax evasion. They have holed up in their Victorian style home (build of solid concrete with a tower with 360 degree field of fire) and said they will not be taken out alive. Their phone and power lines have been cut but the house is a marvel of green engineering with solar panels and wind generators built in and supporters bring the cell phones and supplies. (Although they are said to have several years worth of food stashed in the place as well as weapons0
These supporters include such luminaries as Randy Weaver. (Google Ruby Ridge)

Needless to say the U.S. Marshals are proceeding very carefully in this action to avoid something like Ruby Ridge or Waco from happening here.

Stupid people keep life so interesting for the rest of us........
